In anticipation of the highly awaited 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ghana has meticulously outlined its pre-tournament plans, including a pivotal friendly against Botswana. Confirmed by the Ghana Football Association, the national team is set to establish camp in Johannesburg, South Africa, commencing on December 31, 2023.

During their intensive 10-day stay, the team, led by head coach Chris Hughton, will engage in focused training sessions, honing their skills for the AFCON tournament in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, slated from January 13 to February 11, 2024. A crucial part of the preparation includes a friendly clash with Botswana on January 8, 2024.

The closed training environment in South Africa will allow the coaching staff to evaluate players, culminating in the finalization of the 27-man squad for the tournament, with the squad announcement deadline set for January 3. With a rich history as a four-time African champion, Ghana is determined to make a lasting impact in AFCON 2023, seeking to secure the elusive trophy after four decades of pursuit. The team faces formidable group stage opponents, including Cape Verde on January 14, Egypt on January 18, and Mozambique on January 22, 2024.
