The Black Stars have arrived in the Garden City of Kumasi to kick off their training camp in anticipation of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
On January 1, 2024, the team unveiled its final 27-man squad for the AFCON, sparking discussions due to the omission of some key players.
Starting from the evening of January 1, 2024, a group of 14 players, led by Captain Dede Ayew, landed at the Kumasi International Airport, including notable figures like Ernest Nuamah and Gideon Mensah.
Mohammed Kudus and Inaki Williams are set to join the initial 14 players later, boosting the squad’s momentum as they gear up for their preparatory phase before heading to Côte d’Ivoire.
Ghana is scheduled to face the Brave Warriors of Namibia in a warm-up game in Kumasi on January 8, 2024, before departing for Abidjan two days later to compete in the tournament.
The friendly match will provide the technical team with an opportunity to assess the players’ progress and fitness levels before the journey to Côte d’Ivoire.
Drawn in the same group as record holders Egypt, Cape Verde Islands, and Mozambique, Ghana will kick off their group stage campaign against Cape Verde Islands on January 14, followed by matches against Egypt on January 18, 2024, and Mozambique on January 22, 2024.
