Executing a stealthy move at the back post, Hotto propelled Namibia, positioned 87 places below Tunisia in the world rankings, to a well-deserved triumph. Demonstrating superior initiative and crafting more promising opportunities, Namibia showcased their prowess in the opening Group E clash at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium.

Despite their historic fourth finals appearance, Namibia had never clinched a victory in the Cup of Nations before. Although they should have won by a wider margin, lapses in decision-making limited their triumph.

The second Group E encounter at the same venue later on Tuesday will feature Mali and South Africa.
