Super Eagles Set to Soar: Nigeria Gears Up for AFCON 2023 with Guinea Friendly

In anticipation of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are gearing up for a preparatory fixture. Scheduled for January 8, the team, led by Jose Peseiro in his first AFCON experience, will face Guinea.

Currently stationed in Dubai, the Super Eagles will travel to Ivory Coast next week. To fine-tune their skills, they’ve secured a friendly against Guinea in Abu Dhabi on January 8, serving as their sole preparation game before the prestigious tournament.

Guinea, with notable players such as former Liverpool star Naby Keita, Leipzig midfielder Ilaix Moriba, Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, and Le Havre forward Mohamed Bayo, poses a formidable challenge.

Nevertheless, Nigeria, under the guidance of Jose Peseiro and featuring stars like Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Alex Iwobi, and Samuel Chukwueze, are confident in their quality.

The 25-man squad is gearing up for their AFCON journey, kicking off on January 14 against Equatorial Guinea. Subsequent matches include a face-off against hosts Ivory Coast and a group stage finale against Guinea-Bissau.
