The Super Eagles received a welcomed boost with the arrival of OGC Nice striker, Terem Moffi, on Monday. Moffi, a late addition to the squad replacing the injured Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen, swiftly joined the team in Abidjan after featuring for Nice in their 2-0 defeat to Rennes on Saturday.
Moffi, who was part of Jose Peseiro’s 40-man provisional list for AFCON, brought excitement to the camp and added strength to the Super Eagles’ attacking front. The 23-year-old trained with the team at the Ecole Nationale de la Police on Monday afternoon.
After a disappointing 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, the Super Eagles face a crucial encounter against host nation Ivory Coast on Thursday. Ivory Coast’s impressive 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau in their opening match puts them in a favorable position, and a victory against Nigeria would secure a direct ticket to the second round of the competition.
In addition to Moffi’s arrival, Kelechi Iheanacho and Paul Onuachu joined the Super Eagles camp on Sunday and participated in training on Monday. The team is gearing up for a must-win match against Ivory Coast to keep their AFCON hopes alive.
