Belgium and Nigeria Secure Paris 2024 Women’s Basketball Berths with Olympic Qualifying Triumph

In a decisive match, Belgium triumphed over Nigeria with a scoreline of 78-61 on Sunday, securing both teams coveted spots at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as the top two finishers in Group B of the 2024 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

The United States, maintaining an unbeaten record in the tournament, had previously secured their place as the World Cup winners.

Leading the charge for Belgium, Antonia Delaere notched up 15 points, while pivot Emma Meesseman showcased an impressive performance with 14 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.

The U.S. continued their dominant run, defeating Senegal with a commanding score of 101-39. Rhyne Howard contributed 25 points, complemented by Napheesa Collier’s 22 points.

Teams like China, Japan, Australia, Canada, and others have already secured their places from different groups. The final roster of the 12 Olympic contenders in women’s basketball will be determined after the conclusion of the tournament in Brazil.
