Teni Urges Super Eagles to Avenge Grammy Loss, Defeat South Africa in AFCON Clash

Singer Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has passionately appealed to the Super Eagles to secure a resounding victory in their upcoming AFCON Semi-final against South Africa. The call comes in the wake of the disappointment faced by Nigerian artists at the 66th Grammys, where South African artist Tyla triumphed in the Best African Music Performance category.

Expressing her dismay in a video shared on social media, Teni highlighted the Grammy loss suffered by artists like Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake, and Olamide. As the sole non-Nigerian nominee, Tyla’s victory stirred emotions, prompting Teni to implore star striker Victor Osimhen and his teammates to avenge the defeat by securing a win against South Africa in the crucial AFCON clash.

In her message, Teni exclaimed, “Grammy, there’s a problem. We have many parties. You have killed our groove. South Africa, Tyla’s ‘Water.’ Alright. Osimhen, over to you. Lookman, over to you. South Africa, you will dance Amapiano after your AFCON defeat. You killed my groove. Grammy why?”

With emotions running high, Teni’s plea adds an extra layer of motivation for the Super Eagles to not only pursue victory in the AFCON semi-final but also to provide a fitting response to the Grammy setback faced by their compatriots.
