The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Ghana has disclosed the reward packages designated for athletes who excel at the 2023 African Games in Accra.
According to the ministry, securing a gold medal will earn athletes a substantial prize of $3000, while silver medalists will receive $2000, and bronze medalists will be awarded $1000.
These details were unveiled during a press briefing held in Accra on Sunday evening, just before the commencement of the athletics segment of the games.
Additionally, athletes will receive a per diem of Ghs 1000 for each of the 14 days they spend in camp during the games.
Ghana has already amassed an impressive tally of 46 medals within the first 10 days of competition, comprising 9 gold, 22 silver, and 15 bronze.
