Stanbic Bank Supports 13th African Games LOC with GHS200,000

Stanbic Bank Ghana has extended its support to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the African Games – Accra 2023 by presenting a cheque of GHS200,000 to bolster the government’s efforts in orchestrating the Games.

During the presentation ceremony, Mr. Kwamina Asomaning, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stanbic Bank Ghana, expressed the bank’s delight in collaborating with the LOC to elevate Ghana’s stature through the African Games. He emphasized the alignment of sports values with the bank’s vision, particularly in fostering socio-economic development.

Mr. Asomaning highlighted the significance of supporting sports promotion on the continent, noting that government initiatives required additional assistance to ensure the Games’ success.

In emphasizing Stanbic Bank’s commitment to sports development, Mr. Asomaning cited the bank’s investment in various sporting disciplines such as swimming, tennis, and volleyball. He described the bank’s support for the African Games as an opportunity to diversify its focus and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s sporting resurgence.

Expressing gratitude for Stanbic Bank’s timely intervention, the Minister of Youth and Sports, speaking on behalf of the LOC and the government, acknowledged the crucial role the support played, particularly in facilitating the payment of per diems to Ghanaian athletes. With over 500 athletes from Team Ghana to support, the minister highlighted the significant impact the contribution would have in ensuring the athletes’ welfare and fostering a conducive environment for achieving success in the competition.
