The Cameroon Football Federation has expressed its “significant surprise” following the announcement by the sports ministry of the appointment of Marc Brys as the new coach for the national team. This decision comes as the contract of former coach Rigobert Song expired after the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
Led by football legend Samuel Eto’o, the federation stated its astonishment at the unilateral decision, emphasizing that it was not informed beforehand, which is contrary to established protocols outlined in Decree No. 2014/384 of September 26, 2014, concerning the organization and functioning of national football teams.
Describing the situation as regrettable, the federation has initiated efforts to investigate further. Rigobert Song, the outgoing coach, notably led the Indomitable Lions to the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations.
