Saminu Abdul-Rasheed, the Ghanaian sprinter, has emerged as the standout performer at the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Outdoor Championship, securing the title of Most Valuable Performer.
Abdul-Rasheed showcased remarkable dominance throughout the event, clinching gold medals in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4 x 100-meter Men’s Relay Race.
In the 100-meter sprint, Abdul-Rasheed achieved a personal best time of 10.03 seconds, with a legal wind time of (0.8), while he clocked 20.34 seconds in the 200-meter race.
The University of South Florida celebrated a clean sweep with sprinters Shevioe Reid and Jaleel Croal securing second and third positions respectively, both finishing behind Abdul-Rasheed.
Abdul-Rasheed’s exceptional time ranks as the fifth fastest recorded in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). In a post-race interview, he expressed his determination to continue excelling on the outdoor circuit.
Looking forward, Abdul-Rasheed aims to secure a spot in Ghana’s Men’s Relay Team for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, underscoring his relentless pursuit of excellence on the global stage.
