Bologna are monitoring 2023 Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban as a potential replacement for striker Joshua Zirkzee, who has drawn interest from Arsenal and other top European clubs.
According to Get Football, citing Ignazio Genuardi, the Serie A club has included the Nigerian forward and Stade Brestois striker Lilian Brassier on their shortlist to succeed Zirkzee.
Following an impressive season, the Dutch youth international Zirkzee has attracted attention from clubs such as Arsenal, AC Milan, Napoli, and Juventus. With a high likelihood of Zirkzee leaving Bologna, the club is proactively seeking his replacement, leading them to Orban.
Orban, who started strong in the Jupiler Pro League, joined Lyon in January after a challenging season. Since joining Lyon, he has scored three goals in 16 appearances across all competitions. Despite Bologna’s interest, securing Orban could be challenging due to his recent long-term contract with Lyon, which runs until the summer of 2028.
While Brassier is reportedly higher on Bologna’s wishlist, his numerous suitors may complicate the Serie A club’s efforts to secure his signature.
