Clubs Eye Nigerian Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali as Chippa United Sets High Price Tag

Chippa United’s Stanley Bobo Nwabali has attracted the attention of clubs both domestically and internationally after his standout performances for the Super Eagles during the AFCON 2023 tournament. The South African side has placed a significant ₦2.245 billion price tag on the 27-year-old goalkeeper, following his remarkable displays that helped Nigeria secure a place in the AFCON final. Nwabali’s heroics included saving two crucial penalties in the semi-final against South Africa, showcasing his talent on the big stage. With interest from clubs such as Queens Park Rangers, Royal Union Saint-Gilloise, Kaizer Chiefs, and Al-Ettifaq, Nwabali’s future is attracting considerable attention. Chippa United’s CEO, Siviwe Mpengesi, has confirmed ongoing discussions with potential suitors, as Nwabali has indicated he will not be renewing his contract with the club this summer. However, Chippa United’s asking price of £1.3 million (₦2.245 billion) may pose a challenge for some clubs, with Kaizer Chiefs expressing hesitation at meeting the valuation. Despite this, the Nigerian goalkeeper’s impressive performances have positioned him as a sought-after asset in the transfer market, with his current contract with Chippa United extending until the summer of 2026.
