Delays in Athlete Bonuses: MP Expresses Concern

Wisdom Mensah Woyome, the Ranking Member on the Sports Committee in Ghana’s Parliament, has voiced his confusion regarding the delayed payment of bonuses to athletes who excelled at the 2023 African Games.

Representing the South Tongu Constituency, Woyome has joined the discussion surrounding the ongoing dispute between frustrated athletes and the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the unresolved agreement.

Despite nearly two months passing since the conclusion of the 13th African Games, held in Ghana for the first time, Ghanaian athletes who clinched medals at the multi-sport event are still awaiting the fulfillment of promised financial rewards, including $3000 for gold medalists.
