German-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Kohn has won the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray following a decisive victory against Konyaspor on the final day.
Kohn, who joined Galatasaray during the winter transfer window, provided an assist in the 3-1 away win. The former Bayern Munich youth star set up Mauro Icardi for the opener after 29 minutes, with the Argentine doubling the lead six minutes into the second half. Dries Mertens then assisted Berkan Kutlu for the third goal two minutes later, while Louka Prip scored a late consolation for the hosts, Konyaspor.
The win secured Galatasaray’s championship for the second consecutive year, ending the season with 102 points in a closely contested race with rivals Fenerbahce, who finished with 99 points after a 6-0 thrashing of Istanbulspor on the final day.
Kohn made 13 appearances for Galatasaray, scoring one goal and providing two assists. He joined the Turkish side from German second-tier club Hannover 96.
