Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, Chair of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the Confederation of African Athletics Region II seniors athletics championships, has reassured Ghanaians of a well-executed event despite the short notice given for its organization.
Acknowledging the enormity of the task during the LOC’s inauguration, Dr. Baah-Nuakoh emphasized the importance of diligence and dedication in meeting the challenge. With only three weeks until the competition’s commencement on June 3, and with approximately 450 athletes and officials expected to participate, the pressure is on to ensure a seamless event, which also serves as a Paris 2024 Olympics qualifier.
While the technical aspects are largely sorted with equipment readiness, operational challenges remain. Dr. Baah-Nuakoh highlighted the need for financial support and coordination with essential service providers for security, safety, medical assistance, and logistical arrangements.
Despite these hurdles, Dr. Baah-Nuakoh expressed confidence in the LOC’s capabilities, emphasizing their ongoing efforts to ensure everything is in place for a successful competition. The event is slated to be held at the University of Ghana stadium.
