Asante Kotoko’s star striker, Steven Mukwala, celebrated the spirit of Kumasi following his stellar performance in the team’s 2-0 victory over archrivals Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Mukwala, who netted both goals in the match, shared his joy on social media, attributing their triumph to the deep-rooted love and pride of Kumasi. “We did it for the love and pride of Kumasi,” Mukwala wrote on X. “The Spirit of Asanteman Lives on.”
His brace, with goals in the 9th and 92nd minutes, not only secured a crucial win for Kotoko but also highlighted his vital contribution to the team’s success this season. Mukwala’s clinical finishing and determination were key to their victory.
Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum praised Mukwala’s performance, noting his pivotal role in securing back-to-back wins over Hearts of Oak this season. “Steve made it so beautiful. He lived up to the task,” Ogum commented, emphasizing the team’s dedication to their supporters and the city of Kumasi.
