Ghanaian Defender Tariq Lamptey Returns from Injury as Brighton Draws with Newcastle United

Brighton and Hove Albion’s Tariq Lamptey marked his return from injury in their Premier League fixture against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Lamptey, the Black Stars right-back, had been sidelined due to a knock sustained after his international duties with Ghana at the end of March, keeping him out for nearly a month.

However, the 24-year-old made a significant comeback, coming on for Joel Veltman in the 40th minute, who had to leave the field due to an apparent injury after helping Brighton take an early lead.

Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff equalized just before halftime, resulting in a thrilling encounter that ended in a draw on Saturday afternoon.

Lamptey’s return to action serves as a positive development for Ghana’s coach Otto Addo, who is in the process of finalizing his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

In another notable substitution, Ghanaian youngster Benicio Baker-Boaitey entered the game in the second half, replacing Facundo Buonanotte.
