Bayern Munich and Germany star Jamal Musiala has openly expressed his affection for both Nigeria and Germany, refusing to choose between the two nations out of respect, as reported by Sportblog247.com.

Musiala was born in Stuttgart, Germany, to a British-Nigerian Yoruba father and a German mother with Polish roots. The versatile 21-year-old midfielder, known for his exceptional dribbling ability, is one of football’s rising stars.

Despite his eligibility to represent Nigeria, Germany, England, and Poland, Musiala chose to play for Germany, the four-time FIFA World Cup winners. When asked about his decision, Musiala explained that it ultimately came down to where he felt most comfortable.

“I could have played for Nigeria because it crossed my mind, and I thought about it well. I had good talks with Nigeria and Germany, so it really just came down to me and where I’d feel the most comfortable. So I decided to go with Germany,” said the former Cobham academy player.

In a recent interview with food designer Serge Ibaka on the How Hungry Are You Show, Musiala was asked which country he loves more, Nigeria or Germany. He diplomatically responded, “Out of respect, I can’t answer that. I have respect for both. I love Nigeria and Germany.” Musiala also shared his fondness for Nigerian food, particularly Fufu. Similarly, Nigerian-German Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi has previously expressed his love for the meal.

Musiala moved to England from Germany at the age of seven and played for the Chelsea and Southampton youth teams before joining Bayern Munich in 2019. He has had an impressive season, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists in 37 games for Bayern Munich.
