Kelechi Iheanacho has fueled transfer speculation by liking a post from Aston Villa on X (formerly Twitter), as reported by Sportblog247.com. The Nigerian striker’s contract with Leicester City is set to expire in June, and the club does not plan to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium.
Several top clubs, including Aston Villa, which recently secured a UEFA Champions League spot for the upcoming season, are showing strong interest in Iheanacho, along with other clubs like Everton. Iheanacho recently liked a post celebrating Ollie Watkins as Villa’s player of the season, adding to the transfer rumors.
Reports indicate that Iheanacho has rejected a new contract from Leicester City, despite being offered a higher wage of £65,000 per week. The 27-year-old has had limited playing time this season under Enzo Maresca, starting only ten league matches.
Both Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are expected to leave Leicester City when their contracts expire in June 2024. Aston Villa, seeking a backup striker for Ollie Watkins, has shown renewed interest in Iheanacho, having attempted to sign him four years ago.
Following Leicester’s final game of the season against Blackburn Rovers, Iheanacho hinted at his departure by wearing a t-shirt with the inscription, “We’ve got HISTORY. When I’m gone, you gonna miss me.”
