Super Eagles coach Finidi George has been urged by former national U-23 assistant coach Abubakar Bala to reconsider his choice of foreign assistants for the Nigerian team. Finidi, who recently took on the role of guiding Nigeria to the next FIFA World Cup, has been given the task of selecting his coaching staff.
While there were initial suggestions from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for Emmanuel Amunike or Daniel Amokachi to assist Finidi, it appears he’s inclined towards bringing in a foreign coach. However, Bala advises him to look within Nigeria for assistants who understand the local football landscape.
Bala emphasized the importance of loyalty and local knowledge, suggesting that Nigerian coaches could provide valuable support to Finidi. With Nigeria facing South Africa in their next World Cup qualifying match, there’s mounting pressure on Finidi and his team to secure a win, especially considering their current standing in the group.
Ultimately, Bala’s advice highlights the potential benefits of working with compatriots who possess a deep understanding of Nigerian football.
