Madueke believes Chelsea is hitting its stride at a crucial juncture, with recent victories over formidable opponents Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United bolstering their push for a top-six finish in the Premier League. Securing this position could secure Europa League qualification, contingent on Manchester United’s result in the Emirates FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Playing a pivotal role in Chelsea’s late surge, the England U21 international of Nigerian descent has contributed significantly, notching five goal involvements in his last six Premier League outings. His impact was evident with goals and assists against Aston Villa and West Ham United, as well as finding the net in a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United.
Madueke credits the recent successes to the team’s cohesion under Mauricio Pochettino’s guidance after months of dedicated work. Reflecting on the recent performances, Madueke expressed, “Two clean sheets and seven goals against tough opponents – one is above us in the table and one right next to us. So I think it’s credit to the boys, credit to the staff and credit to the whole club.”
He added, “It’s starting to click and come together, but it really just comes from working hard for each other and letting our talent sprout from there. That’s what we’ve been trying to put together for a while now and it’s starting to click, so we just have to stay with our feet on the ground and try to win these last three games to finish as high as possible.”
Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures include away clashes against Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove before concluding the season with a home fixture against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
