Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), expressed confidence that Ghana’s Men’s 4×100 Relay Team will work on improving their baton change technique before the 2024 Olympic Games.
In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports following the team’s qualification for the Paris Olympics by winning Heat 2 at the World Relays Championship in the Bahamas, Nunoo Mensah addressed concerns regarding the baton change phase.
While there were no issues with the baton change during Day Two of the World Relays, Ghana previously faced challenges at the Penn Relays, where a delayed baton change hindered their performance. Additionally, a dropped baton during Day One of the World Relays and a delayed change at the African Games contributed to setbacks.
Despite these setbacks, Nunoo Mensah remains optimistic that the team will focus on addressing the issue. With the 2024 Olympics scheduled to commence on July 26 and conclude on August 11, there is time for the team to refine their technique and enhance their performance in the relay events.
