Ola Aina Extends Nottingham Forest Stay for Another Year

Nottingham Forest has confirmed that Olaoluwa Aina, a key player for both the Super Eagles and the Championship club, has signed a contract extension to remain at the City Ground for another year, according to Sportblog247.com.

Aina, the versatile 27-year-old full-back, joined Forest last summer after his contract with Italian Serie A side Torino expired. Initially signed on a one-year deal with an option for an extension, Aina’s performances across 22 appearances in various defensive roles, including right-back, left-back, and wing-back, earned him a contract renewal.

The decision to trigger the extension clause was influenced by Aina’s impactful presence both on and off the field, as highlighted in the club’s official statement expressing satisfaction with his contributions.

During his time at Forest, Aina notably scored his first goal in a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, celebrating in the style of Nigerian football icon Yakubu Aiyegbeni. His achievements also extend to international success, having reached the Africa Cup of Nations final with Nigeria and earning a place in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament.

Reflecting on his extended stay, Aina expressed his happiness with his time at Forest and gratitude to the fans for their support, as quoted on the club’s official website.

Ross Wilson, Forest’s Chief Football Officer, praised Aina for his performances and positive influence within the team, emphasizing that he is a perfect fit for the club’s ambitions moving forward.

As Aina and teammate Taiwo Awoniyi work towards full fitness, they are set to feature prominently in Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers scheduled for next month.
