Otto Addo Vows to Bolster Black Stars’ Goal-Scoring Prowess Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

Ahead of the crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Black Stars coach Otto Addo has pledged to enhance his team’s ability to find the back of the net, acknowledging recent criticisms over their struggles in creating and converting scoring opportunities.

Speaking at a press conference held at the GFA headquarters, Addo addressed these concerns and assured fans of the team’s commitment to improving their goal-scoring record. “We will work on our goal-scoring. Every game is different, but we will try our best to ensure we score more goals,” he affirmed.

Preparations for the upcoming qualifiers are set to kick off with a training camp at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, as the team gears up for pivotal matches. With Ghana currently occupying 4th place in Group I, securing victories in the upcoming fixtures against Mali and the Central African Republic is imperative for their World Cup aspirations.

The Black Stars started their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Madagascar in Kumasi, followed by a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Comoros in Moroni.

The upcoming qualifier against Mali is slated for Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako, while Ghana will host the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024.

Addo also announced his squad for these crucial matches during the press conference, expressing optimism about the team’s prospects and their chances of securing qualification for the World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
