Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has reportedly made a decision regarding his future with Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor. According to Turkish sports daily Fanatik, the Southampton loanee is not interested in signing a permanent deal with the Black Sea Storm due to delays in salary payments and his agent’s fee not being paid on time.
Despite his desire to leave Trabzonspor, the 29-year-old Onuachu wishes to remain in the Turkish Süper Lig, with a preference for joining an Istanbul-based club.
Trabzonspor, who are close to securing a European spot, are keen on retaining the services of the prolific striker who has been instrumental for them this season. However, besides Onuachu’s reluctance to stay, the club also faces the challenge of meeting his €15m valuation, as they can currently only offer €10m.
Newly promoted Göztepe are also interested in acquiring the former Genk forward as they aim to solidify their top-flight status next season.
Onuachu has rediscovered his goalscoring form in Turkey after a difficult spell in England with Southampton, making it clear why he prefers to remain in the Turkish league. The Nigeria international is Trabzonspor’s top scorer this season in the Süper Lig, with 14 goals in 20 games and four assists.
