The University of Ghana Stadium has been chosen as the host venue for the upcoming WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations (AFCON), acting as the qualifying platform for the 2024 U-17 African Cup of Nations.
Commencing on May 15, 2024, the tournament will showcase the talents of seven West African nations: Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Togo, as they compete for a coveted spot in the AFCON.
Host nation Ghana has been placed in Group A alongside Benin and Cote d’Ivoire, while Group B comprises Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Togo.
Utilizing the recently completed University of Ghana Stadium, which previously hosted the African Games in 2023, the tournament promises to offer a high-quality venue for the thrilling matches ahead.
Furthermore, the participating teams will benefit from top-notch training facilities, including the Oval field, Mensah Sarbah pitch, and Union Ghana field.
The competition is slated to conclude on May 29, 2024, marking an exciting period for youth football in the region.
