Vision FC, a Division One club, solemnly observed the one-week memorial of their late fitness trainer, Ricky Roy Romeo.
Romeo, who served as both a fitness trainer for Vision FC and the Black Stars, tragically passed away a week prior, leaving the football community in mourning.
His family officially announced his passing to the Football Association earlier in the week, with the one-week commemoration taking place on Saturday.
Players, members of the technical team, and the club manager expressed their condolences by visiting the trainer’s family to offer their sympathies for the loss of this esteemed sportsman.
In a statement shared on social media, the club wrote, “Today, we joined in solidarity to pay our respects to the family and friends of our late Fitness Coach, Ricky Roy Romeo, during his one-week observation ceremony. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and all who knew him. Rest in peace, Roy!”
Romeo gained recognition for his heroic actions in 2020 when he saved a player’s life during a Division One League match between Vision FC and Agbozume Weavers. He later joined the Black Stars’ backroom staff in 2021, initially working under former coach Milovan Rajevac.
Throughout his tenure, he played a crucial role in the national team’s physical training sessions during major tournaments, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Details regarding Roy’s funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
