Crystal Palace Fights to Retain Michael Olise Amid Chelsea Interest with New Contract Offer

Crystal Palace is working to retain Michael Olise, who was invited to the Super Eagles in 2021, by offering him a new contract to fend off interest from Chelsea and other European clubs.

Last year, Olise, a product of Chelsea’s Cobham academy, nearly rejoined the west London club, but the deal fell through amid allegations of transfer rule violations. Subsequently, Olise extended his stay at Selhurst Park until June 30, 2027.

According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace is determined to keep Olise for the upcoming season and has proposed a new deal that includes a pay increase and a release clause allowing a move in the summer of 2025. Romano added that Chelsea, along with Newcastle United and Bayern Munich, have been granted permission to discuss personal terms with the versatile winger.

Despite recurring injuries, Olise had an impressive 2023-2024 Premier League season, scoring ten goals and providing six assists in nineteen appearances. Chelsea has been pursuing their former player and is currently in talks with his representatives.

The 22-year-old also attracts interest from Premier League champions Manchester City and rivals Manchester United. Olise can leave Crystal Palace this summer due to a £60m release clause in his current contract with the Eagles.
