The Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA), Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, has congratulated the Abuja-based Naija Ratels Football Club for advancing to the semi-finals of the ongoing President Federation FA Cup.
In a statement released through the FCT FA Media Unit, Mouktar expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance despite numerous challenges, including travel and logistical issues. He urged the team to remain determined and strive to win the trophy.
Naija Ratels secured their semi-final spot with a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over F.C Robo Queens of Lagos at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, following a 1-1 draw in regular time.
“I am elated to congratulate our girls, Naija Ratels Football Club, on their outstanding performance in the ongoing President Federation Cup, advancing to the semi-finals,” Mouktar stated. “This achievement reflects the continuous efforts in sports development over the years, which have significantly raised the profile of women’s football in the FCT.
“I commend the FCT FA representative for their indefatigable spirit and commitment. As a football association, we pledge our moral and financial support to the team. We want to win the trophy, so don’t relent in your efforts. Bring the trophy back to Abuja,” he urged the Naija Ratels.
The Naija Ratels will face Remo Stars Queen in the semi-finals on June 23rd, 2024. The other semi-final match will be between Delta Queens and River Angels.
