Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce are eager to retain Bright Osayi-Samuel for the upcoming season amid rumors of the former Queens Park Rangers player returning to England during the summer transfer window.
Osayi-Samuel, a product of Blackpool’s academy, has drawn interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace, and Leeds United. He joined Fenerbahce from Queens Park Rangers in January 2021 and has a contract with the Istanbul club until the end of the 2024-2025 season. Fenerbahce is keen on extending his contract to avoid losing one of their key players.
According to Turkish sports daily Fanatik, Fenerbahce has started contract extension negotiations with Osayi-Samuel. The Nigeria international has requested a salary increase, seeking a net annual salary of 2.5 million euros (approximately N4 billion in Nigerian currency), which is 700,000 euros more than his current earnings.
New Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho has also expressed his desire for Osayi-Samuel to stay, considering him for the roles of right-back or wing-back in the upcoming campaign.
Last season, Osayi-Samuel made 39 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing six assists. Negotiations for his contract extension are ongoing, with both parties expected to meet this week to reach a compromise.
