The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied reports of holding talks with French coach Herve Renard regarding the vacant Super Eagles coaching job.
Africa soccer.com reported on Monday that the NFF was in contact with Renard to manage the Super Eagles. However, a top NFF official told BBC Africa, “This report is inaccurate. We’ve not contacted Renard or his representatives.”
The NFF is currently searching for a new head coach for the Super Eagles following Finidi George’s resignation a few weeks ago. Finidi managed the three-time African champions for about a month.
A new coach is expected to be appointed before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September. The Super Eagles are currently second-bottom in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group, without a win and four points behind the top two teams.
