Olorunleke Ojo Expresses Eternal Gratitude to Enyimba as He Departs for Al Merreikh

Olorunleke Ojo has expressed his deep gratitude to Enyimba, acknowledging the significant role the Aba giants played in shaping his career. After a three-year stint, Ojo is moving on, having agreed to a two-year deal with Sudanese giants Al Merreikh. He departs Enyimba after helping the two-time African champions secure their record-extending ninth Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title last year.

In his final match for the People’s Elephant against Plateau United, Ojo kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory. The match featured a special 13-second standing ovation in the 13th minute, honoring his jersey number.

“I feel good, I feel happy,” Ojo said after the match. “I thank God that it ended well for me and for the club. I’m grateful for all the love and support the fans showed me throughout my stay at Enyimba. They made me who I am today. So, until the end of time, I owe Enyimba and the entire Abia State everything. I’m grateful.”

Ojo also expressed his appreciation for the love and commitment from the players and fans, noting the immense joy he feels. “I will always remember Enyimba for the love they showed me. It means a lot. You won’t understand the kind of joy in my heart right now. In fact, I’m short of words on how to appreciate them. I will always remember them for the love and the commitment, especially the players and for their support.”

The Super Eagles goalkeeper received his first national team call-up while at Enyimba and was a member of the Nigerian squad that reached the final of the 2023 AFCON earlier this year in Cote d’Ivoire.
