Taiwo Awoniyi and Unicorns FC Ink Four-Year Sponsorship Deal with Kwara Kiddies YEG League

The Kwara Kiddies YEG League has secured a four-year sponsorship deal with Nigerian Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi and Unicorns Football Club. This agreement was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The event, which drew the attention of football stakeholders in the state, underscores the league’s status as the largest kiddies league in Nigeria. This partnership marks another significant contribution by Awoniyi to the development of football and his efforts to give back to society.

Now in its third season, the league serves as a foundational platform designed to nurture new talent and groom the next generation of football stars through a five-year developmental plan. By incorporating data and performance charts for players and teams, the league utilizes a comprehensive model that leverages media and digital footprints to promote players and reach a broader audience.

The league focuses on the progression of players from the U-12 category through U-17, exposing them to the rigors of competitive football in an environment conducive to their development and helping them maximize their talents.

Ibrahim Jatto, Chief Operating Officer of the Kwara Kiddies YEG League, hailed the sponsorship deal as a landmark moment in the history of grassroots football development in Nigeria. He emphasized that Taiwo Awoniyi’s involvement would inspire young players, as he is widely admired as a role model.

“The league has not only found a worthy partner and sponsor in Taiwo Awoniyi but also a valuable asset that will bring about transformation and give all kids the needed jump,” Jatto said.

Awoniyi expressed his commitment to helping grassroots footballers in his home state of Kwara achieve their dreams of playing at the top level, believing this initiative will significantly aid their journey to stardom. “This initiative is a wonderful one, and I am very pleased to be part of it. I believe this will really help a lot of players in their journey to stardom,” Awoniyi stated.

He added that his ultimate joy would be to see the league produce many players like him who will, in turn, give back to society.

According to LEADERSHIP, the third season of the Kwara Kiddies YEG League commenced on Saturday, June 22, 2024, featuring 14 teams.
