Tim Iroegbunam, Everton’s first summer signing, is eagerly anticipating his new chapter at the club and looks forward to reuniting with former Aston Villa teammate Ashley Young. The young England U20 international of Nigerian descent hopes Young’s experience will guide him as he settles into life at Everton.

Iroegbunam recently signed a three-year contract with Everton, extending until June 2027, marking the start of his journey with the Merseyside club. He previously shared the pitch with Young in several matches at Aston Villa, where Young played a pivotal role in mentoring and encouraging him.

Speaking about the reunion with Young, Iroegbunam expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m looking forward to seeing him again. He was always on to me, I’d say that! But I knew it came from a good place – he was always pushing me, encouraging me and giving me advice as a young player.”

Acknowledging Young’s illustrious career and the wisdom he brings, Iroegbunam added, “Obviously, he’s been through it himself and has had an amazing career so far. It’ll be good to play with him again, and hopefully, he takes me under his wing.”

Iroegbunam, known for his versatility as both a holding midfielder and a box-to-box midfielder, is poised to contribute to Everton’s ambitions in the upcoming season.
