Italian Serie B club Bari is on the verge of finalizing the signing of Nigerian central defender Nosa Obaretin, who currently plays for Napoli.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Obaretin is poised to join Bari on loan for the upcoming season.
Last season, Obaretin gained valuable experience on loan at Serie C side Trento, featuring in 35 matches and scoring two goals.
Born in Forlì on January 26, 2003, Obaretin began his football journey in the youth setup of AC Milan. He played extensively for Milan’s Primavera team, participating in 22 matches in Primavera 1 and Coppa Primavera during the 2020-2021 season.
During the following season, he continued to impress with 21 appearances in the Championship and Cup competitions, alongside debuting and making five appearances in the UEFA Youth League.
In 2022-2023, Obaretin moved to Napoli’s Primavera squad, where he scored three goals in 33 appearances in youth competitions. Standing at 1.89 meters tall, Obaretin is known for his versatility, capable of playing as a left-sided central defender in a back three or as a left back in a back four.
Former Napoli manager Rudy Garcia closely monitored Obaretin during preparations for the 2023-2024 season before the decision was made to send him out on loan to Trento.
Obaretin’s impending move to Bari marks an important step in his career as he seeks to further develop his skills and contribute to his new team’s ambitions in Serie B.
