Black Sharks Triumph Over Sand Elephants in Beach Soccer Qualifier

Ghana’s Black Sharks defeated the Sand Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire 5-3 in the first leg of the 2024 AFCON Beach Soccer qualifier at Emancipation Beach in Keta. The return leg is scheduled for July 28, 2024, in Abidjan.

Cheetah Beach Soccer Club goalkeeper Daniel played in goal, while captain Afriyie Torsu scored the opener for Ghana. Defender Kini Ticor, who scored two goals, was awarded the man of the match.

“The entire team played very well, beating Ivory Coast 5-3 in the first leg. The second leg in Ivory Coast is going to be tough, but I believe these boys will make Ghana proud,” said Alhaji Yartey.

The people of Keta turned out in large numbers to support the national beach soccer team, creating a great atmosphere.

Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and Mr. Yayye Yartey of Cheetah FC fame congratulated the players and urged them not to be content but to give their all to qualify.
