The draw to determine opponents for FC Samartex and Nsoatreman FC in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup respectively will take place on Thursday, July 11, in Cairo, Egypt. This event follows the CAF 2025 AFCON Qualifiers draw, which placed Ghana in Group F alongside Angola, Sudan, and Niger.
Top-ranked CAF teams, including defending champions Al-Ahly of Egypt, TP Mazembe of DR Congo, Esperance de Tunis of Tunisia, Petro Luanda of Angola, and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, will receive a bye in the first round.
FC Samartex will represent Ghana in the Champions League after winning the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League title in just their second season in the top flight. Nsoatreman FC, the MTN FA Cup winners, will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup. Recently, Nsoatreman FC appointed former Accra Great Olympics coach Yaw Preko as their new head coach, succeeding Maxwell Konadu.
Last season, Ghana’s Dreams FC participated in the Confederation Cup but were eliminated by eventual winners SC Zamalek of Egypt.
