Chelsea Abandons Pursuit of Nigerian-Born Striker Samuel Omorodion

Chelsea has decided to end its pursuit of Spanish player of Nigerian descent, Samuel Omorodion, according to Sportblog247.com.

Initially considered an alternative to Victor Osimhen, Chelsea targeted Omorodion due to his physical ability and attacking prowess. However, despite offering €33 million plus €7 million in potential add-ons, Atlético Madrid rejected the bid, considering the 20-year-old crucial to their future plans.

This decision has led Chelsea to halt their chase for the forward, as reported by Marca.

Omorodion, in an interview with Marca, expressed his commitment to Atlético Madrid and his desire to respect his contract with the club.

“Other clubs want me? My focus is on Atlético. I noticed that the people of Atlético supported me a lot. I also received a lot of support from the club; they told me to stay calm, that they trusted me. That is very gratifying for a player,” he told Marca.

Atlético Madrid acquired Omorodion for €6 million last season and loaned him to Alavés, where he has developed significantly. The club is committed to retaining the promising young international.

Chelsea is now shifting its focus to experienced strikers Jonathan David from Lille and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund to enhance their offensive lineup. They are also exploring the possibility of loaning Marc Guiu to Sevilla.
