Chelsea Still in Pursuit of Victor Osimhen Despite PSG-Napoli Agreements

Two-time UEFA Champions League winners, Chelsea, have not given up on their pursuit of Napoli and Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, Sportblog247.com reports. The forward has garnered attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Ligue 1 Champions, PSG, have reached an agreement with Osimhen on personal terms, with only final details left to be completed with Napoli’s board, as they are unable to meet his €130m release clause.

Chelsea have long admired the former VfL Wolfsburg man, but their interest seemed to wane as they explored cheaper alternatives like Jhon Duran and Sam Omodiron. However, according to Caught Offside, Chelsea hopes that PSG’s negotiations with Napoli might tempt the Italian side to lower Osimhen’s release clause, allowing Chelsea to step in and attempt to hijack the deal.

Osimhen is expected to leave Italy this summer, and Chelsea are well aware that PSG currently lead the race for his signature. The Blues are desperate for a striker, and despite being linked to several alternative targets, they have yet to make an official bid for any of them.

Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca’s team is looking to free up wage bills and gain funds from the potential sales of Armando Broja and Romelu Lukaku to make a move for their preferred option up front, Victor Osimhen.

The CAF 2023 Player of the Year missed Antonio Conte’s first pre-season game due to a lack of fitness but was in the stands to watch his teammates play.
