Former Asante Kotoko Defender Sherif Mohammed Joins Ethiopian Club Mekele 70 Enderta

Former Asante Kotoko defender Sherif Mohammed has completed a transfer to Ethiopian club Mekele 70 Enderta FC, Sportblog247.com can exclusively reveal.

The 22-year-old center-back has signed a one-year contract with the Ethiopian Premier League side, with an option to extend after the 2024-25 season. Mohammed joins Mekele on a free transfer following his departure from Kotoko at the end of the last campaign, where he made 11 appearances in the Ghanaian championship.

Mohammed initially joined the Porcupine Warriors in August 2022 from EurAfrica FC after an unsuccessful trial in France. During his time at Kotoko, he played 20 matches in the Ghana Premiership and two games in the CAF Champions League preliminary round, earning a call-up to the Ghana national team. He was part of Ghana’s final squad for the 2022 CHAN tournament in Algeria, featuring in the quarter-final loss to Niger.

Mohammed is the second player from Kotoko to move to Ethiopia this transfer window, following goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad’s signing with Ethiopia Coffee FC.
