Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku, alongside FIFA officials, attended the ongoing KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. Okraku was joined by FIFA High-Performance expert Cayl Coetzee and FIFA Scout expert Laban Scott Libby to witness two thrilling Group A matches featuring teams from the Northern, Ashanti, Central, and Brong Ahafo Regions.
Youth football and the Catch Them Young Refereeing policy are central to Okrakuβs development strategy for the GFA. Funded by the KGL Foundation for the past four years, the GFA remains dedicated to identifying, developing, and training young talent for Ghana’s youth national teams. The Talent Identification Championship, now in its fourth year, serves as a crucial platform for discovering the next generation of football stars.
This focused approach on youth football has harnessed Ghana’s vast pool of young talent and is praised as a significant step forward, with the KGL Foundation providing essential funding. Following the successful debut of the Elite Girls U15 Championship, the ongoing KGL U17 Inter-Regional Colts Championship continues this mission.
Launched in 2021, the Championship has been instrumental in talent discovery, benefiting numerous players and clubs in the Premier and Division One Leagues. The 12-day Championship runs until Thursday, August 8, 2024, promising more exciting football and the uncovering of Ghana’s future stars.
