Ghanaian Midfielder Lawrence Agyekum Disappointed After Cercle Brugge League Debut Defeat

Ghanaian midfielder Lawrence Agyekum has expressed his disappointment following a 3-0 defeat on his league debut for Cercle Brugge against Westerlo.

Agyekum, a recent summer signing from WAFA, made his second competitive appearance for the club, having previously played in the Europa League qualifiers against Kilmarnock. He was given a starting role alongside fellow Ghanaian Francis Abu in the match held at Het Kuipje.

Despite the loss, the 20-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his mixed emotions: “Mixed emotions after losing the first league game of the season, but proud to have made my debut. We live to fight another day.”

Agyekum is anticipated to play a significant role in Cercle Brugge’s season as they compete in both domestic and European competitions. The team will next host Kilmarnock on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League qualifiers, with the first leg having ended in a 1-1 draw in Scotland.
