Sportblog247.com reports that former English Premier League champions Leicester City have finalized a new contract with Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
Ndidi, who joined Leicester City from Gent in 2017 for €17.6 million, initially filled the void left by Ngolo Kante’s departure to Chelsea and quickly established himself as a pivotal figure in the team.
Despite facing injury challenges during the 2020/21 season, Ndidi remained a consistent performer for Leicester City. Last season, he contributed significantly with four goals and five assists in 32 appearances, aiding the club in securing the English Championship title and promotion back to the Premier League.
Following speculation about his future due to his previous contract expiring, Ndidi had been linked with clubs in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Spain. However, Leicester City has now quashed any doubts by confirming Ndidi’s commitment with a new three-year deal.
With Kelechi Iheanacho’s departure from Leicester City, Ndidi will be the sole Nigerian representative in the squad for the upcoming Premier League season. He aims to make a strong impact as Leicester City returns to top-flight football following their recent relegation.
