NFF Officially Offers Hervé Renard Role as Super Eagles Head Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has extended an official offer to former Ivorian national team head coach Hervé Renard to replace Finidi George as the head coach of the Super Eagles, according to Sportblog247.com.

The coaching position became vacant after former Ajax star Finidi George resigned less than two months into his tenure.

Reports from FootMercato journalist reveal that Renard has been offered a €2 million per year salary by both the Nigerian and Egyptian football federations.

Despite previous denials, recent reports indicate that the NFF is actively pursuing Renard, who has also managed Saudi Arabia, to help secure a 2026 World Cup ticket. This move comes amid financial concerns voiced by Nigerian football fans about the potential hire.

BBS Sports journalist Oluwashina Okeleji had previously debunked these reports, citing a top NFF official who confirmed that there had been no discussions with Renard to replace George.

“Nigeria FA (NFF) denies Hervé Renard link. This report is inaccurate. We’ve not contacted Renard or his reps,” the official told BBCAfrica, as reported by Okeleji on his X account.

However, the latest information suggests that the NFF has now made contact with Renard, signaling a potential shift from a home-based coach to employing a foreign-based coach despite budgetary concerns.
