Nigeria’s Sports Minister Criticizes Osimhen’s Public Displeasure Towards Finidi

Victor Osimhen’s recent public criticism of Finidi George’s decision not to include him in the Super Eagles squad has drawn comments from Nigeria’s Minister of Sports, Mr. John Enoh, according to Sportblog247.com.

The Napoli striker, despite recovering from injuries to finish the season in good form, expressed dissatisfaction on Instagram over his omission from Finidi George’s squad for matches against South Africa and Benin Republic. The coach opted for other strikers due to reported injury concerns surrounding Osimhen.

In response, Minister Enoh advised the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to refrain from commenting until they engage directly with Osimhen. He emphasized the need for focus amid challenging times for Nigerian football, urging careful management of such situations.

“This incident was regrettable considering Osimhen’s commitment to Nigeria, but it was handled poorly,” Enoh stated on Eagle7 FM Radio, as quoted by Daily Post.

The Super Eagles’ recent results, including a loss to Benin Republic and a draw with South Africa, have further complicated their path to qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
