Recent allegations that 11 members of the Ghana Paralympic Team absconded upon arriving in Norway on April 27, 2024, for the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon have been debunked by the event organizers.

Roger Gjelsvik, the club director, confirmed to the media that the National Paralympic Team did not participate in the marathon, vindicating Samson Deen and the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana.

A letter from the Ministry of National Security dated July 3, 2024, claimed that 11 team members absconded, leading to speculation and misinformation. However, Samson Deen and NPC Ghana consistently denied involvement, emphasizing that they had not participated in the marathon and had not applied to the Norwegian Embassy for facilitation.

Roger Gjelsvik’s confirmation has put these allegations to rest, exonerating Samson Deen and NPC Ghana. Their unwavering commitment to promoting disability sports and supporting Ghanaian athletes highlights their integrity.
