Augsburg center-back Patric Pfeiffer has expressed his excitement about the prospect of reuniting with former coach Otto Addo by representing the Black Stars.

Pfeiffer, who previously played under Addo during his time with Hamburg’s youth team, is eager to join Ghana’s senior squad and work with the coach again.

The 24-year-old defender’s switch from German to Ghanaian nationality was initially announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) two years ago, along with four other players. However, procedural delays postponed his eligibility for selection. Now, with his Ghanaian passport secured and those issues resolved, Pfeiffer is ready to make his debut for the Black Stars.

Speaking from Augsburg’s pre-season camp in Mpumalanga, South Africa, Pfeiffer shared his excitement about the opportunity. “A few weeks ago, I was in Ghana, and now I have my passport,” he told IdiskiTimes. “I hope in September I can get a call-up. I know the coach, Otto Addo, because he was the coach of Hamburg in the youth team [where I played]. I have good contacts with him. I wanted to join the Black Stars before, but I didn’t have my passport, but now it’s done, and I’m ready.”

Despite struggling with injuries last season, which limited him to eleven Bundesliga appearances, Pfeiffer remains optimistic and deeply connected to his Ghanaian roots. “Yes, of course, because this is my motherland. I love Ghana, I love the people, I love the vibe, I love the food,” he affirmed.

Pfeiffer’s potential inclusion in the Black Stars squad would add valuable depth to Ghana’s defense as they prepare for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Fans and football enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting his debut, hoping he can make a significant contribution to the national team.
