Real Sociedad Consider Player-Plus-Cash Deal Involving Sadiq Umar for Getafe’s Borja Mayoral

Spanish La Liga club Real Sociedad is considering including Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar in a player-plus-cash deal for Getafe striker Borja Mayoral, Sportblog247.com reports.

Sadiq Umar’s future at Real Sociedad has been uncertain this summer following his struggles with the club. The 27-year-old striker joined Sociedad two years ago for a club-record €20 million, raising high expectations after his impressive performance at Almeria, where he scored 43 goals and provided 19 assists in 84 appearances.

However, Sadiq suffered a cruciate ligament injury in just his third game for Real Sociedad, sidelining him for the entire season. Last season, upon his return, he struggled to regain his top form.

Coach Imanol Alguacil gave Sadiq numerous opportunities in the first three quarters of the season, but his playing time diminished significantly in the latter half. Sadiq ended the season with three goals and one assist in 36 appearances.

Previous reports from Sportblog247.com indicated that Real Sociedad was open to letting Sadiq leave this summer due to his challenges. Getafe and several other clubs have expressed interest in signing the Super Eagles striker. According to Juancar Navacerrada, Sadiq could soon join Getafe.

Real Sociedad is keen on acquiring Mayoral from Getafe and is looking to include Sadiq in the deal. Although the exact structure of the agreement is still being negotiated, both clubs seem to be nearing a consensus.

Sadiq has already returned for pre-season training but may switch clubs once the deal is finalized.
