Ghanaian football legend Matthew Amoah witnessed a heartwarming moment as his son, Matthew Amoah Jnr, signed his first professional contract with Dutch giants Feyenoord today.
The 15-year-old attacker, who has been part of the Feyenoord Academy, signed an agreement that will keep him at the club until mid-2027.
“I am super proud to have signed my first contract with Feyenoord,” said Amoah Jnr. “I have been playing for the club since the youngest youth teams and have worked towards this wonderful moment all these years. Next season, I want to take the next step in my development and hope to be important for my team again by providing assists and scoring goals.”
Amoah Jnr began his football journey with the amateurs of Baronie from Breda before joining the Feyenoord Academy at a young age. He has since played in all the highest youth teams and will join Feyenoord Under 17 after the summer break.
In April, Amoah Jnr was named Academy Player of the Month.
The young striker is the son of Matthew Amoah, who moved from Ghana to the Netherlands in 1998 and played for clubs such as Vitesse, Fortuna Sittard, NAC Breda, and sc Heerenveen. Amoah senior made a significant impact at Arnhem and Breda, scoring 68 goals in 131 matches for Vitesse and 57 goals in 131 matches for NAC. His crucial goals helped Ghana qualify for their first World Cup in 2006.
